Charities Amendment Bill – Hui E! Joint Submission

In 2022, the Minister for the Community and Voluntary Sector, Priyanca Radhakrishnan, introduced the Charities Amendment Bill to the House, aimed at enhancing the charitable sector’s regulation and governance. The Bill’s proposed changes include reducing reporting requirements for smaller charities, improving the transparency of larger charities’ fund reporting, and introducing a new appeals process to provide more charities with better access to justice.

Hui E! Joint Submission on the Charities Amendment Bill

As a collective, Hui E! worked to bring together our networks, both formal and informal, and the wider sector in order to prepare a joint submission on the Charities Amendment Bill in December 2022. Our aim was to reflect the shared views and concerns of our network, ensuring that our voices are heard and taken into account.

We drew on the experiences of our members and organisations to present a clear and concise response to the proposed changes.

It is important to note that the submission was endorsed by 47 members and organisations, which demonstrates the strength of our collective voice. We are proud to have brought together such a diverse range of perspectives and experiences in order to create a submission that is representative of our network.

It is through our collaborative efforts that we are able to create meaningful change and ensure that the voices of our community are heard.
