Hui E! And KPMG New Zealand celebrate 1 year supporting community groups access funding

Hui E! Community Aotearoa (Hui E!) and KPMG New Zealand (KPMG) are celebrating one year of supporting small to medium community groups access funding.

Through their Memorandum of Understanding, KPMG staff volunteer their skills and time to write a community group’s first grant funding application, as part of the Hoa Pūtea Grant Writing Support Programme run by Hui E!

“Over the past year, KPMG volunteers have prepared 16 funding applications for some of our smallest community groups, and an additional 15 applications since we started in 2020. Many of our community groups need funding support but do not have the time or skills to write their own grant applications. The content our volunteers draft can be used again by the community groups on their social media channels and for other funding applications. It’s a win-win for community groups and the volunteers. This has given the community groups a real boost in confidence and cultivated skills to navigate future funding applications themselves,”

KPMG’s Senior Manager of Corporate Citizenship, Justine Todd, says the benefits are mutual, “Being part of this programme has been a positive and affirming experience for our team, some of them were matched with groups they became really passionate about. It’s also helped them gain hands-on community experience which has been great for their professional development.”

Hui E! and KPMG New Zealand recently renewed their Memorandum of Understanding for another 12 months to support up to 30 applications until April 2023.
